§ 27¼-9. By-pass/interstate proximity signage.

  • Pole signs directed toward Highway 82-Bypass commercial district. Pole signs on lots within the Highway 82 commercial sign district:

    (1)

    There is hereby created a bypass commercial sign district. This district shall be within 1,000 feet of the centerline of Highway 82 median within the city corporate limits.

    (2)

    The maximum height of such signs in such district shall be 60 feet above the centerline elevation of Highway 82, at a point determined by drawing a line that is perpendicular to the centerline of the highway at the highway's closest point to the base of the sign, to the top of the sign.

    (3)

    The maximum area of such signs shall be 300 square feet.

    (4)

    The message of such signs shall be intended for view form the main traveled way of Highway 82, defined as the through traffic lanes exclusive of frontage roads, auxiliary lanes and ramps. Signs the face of which are not visible from the traveled way of Highway 82, as defined immediately above, are not permitted.

    (5)

    Any sign erected in this district shall be required to accompany the business that it advertises within the same lot and no pole sign in this district shall be off the business premises to be advertised on said sign. No sign shall advertise any business other than the business located on the lot on which the pole sign is placed.
